Engineering Design Process
Product Progression
We started with the basic frame for our design.
The cut-outs are spaced so that each different screw size will fall through a different one.
We found that screws rolled off the edge of the
ramp and did not maintain contact with the ramp.
In order to prevent this, we tilted the ramp inward
to pull the screws inward while they roll.
We decided to make the containers to catch the screws next.
We started 3D printing containers, but the prints did not come out well, so we ended up making a tray with dividers out of cardboard.
Eventually, we combined all the parts together
and made some extra additions.
We added an extra wall to catch screws
that fall sideways out of the sorter.
We also added tape and sanded down
area where the screws got caught.
